How to prevent sore eyes?

1. Wash hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water.

1. Do not touch your eyes and face without washing your hands.
2. Do not share towels, eyeglasses/ shades and make up.
3. Do not reuse handkerchiefs (using a tissue is best).
4. Used make-up must be thrown away if the patient has been diagnosed with infectious conjunctivitis.
5. Be careful that tips of eye drops or ointments do not touch the eyes or eyelashes. .
6. Don’t swim (some bacteria and viruses can be spread in the water).
7. Avoid shaking hands.
8. Disinfect surfaces, doorknobs, counters, elevator buttons, hand rails with dilute bleach solution.
9. Clothes, towels, pillow cases and anything else which may have come in contact with an infected person should be washed.

How to treat sore eyes?

1. Frequently wash hands with soap and water.
2. Use clean tissue to remove discharge from eyes and wash hands afterwards.
3. Dispose used tissue in garbage bins. If the latter is not available, keep tissue in a small plastic bag then discard it as soon as you find a garbage bin.
4. To prevent irritation of the eye and possible scarring, do not use contact lens while one has sore eyes.
5. Do not wear eye make-up until the problem has been resolved.
6. Warm compress may be helpful to relieve discomfort and remove "crust".
7. Use antibiotic or antiviral medication only upon prescription by the doctor .
8. If drops or an ointment is prescribed, the applicator tip and infected eye must never come in contact with each other.
9. Especially for persons with sore eyes with runny nose or cough, stay in a separate room or away from other family members or co-workers.

Fort Bliss Shooting Near El Paso – The services of the FBI have been required at Fort Bliss in western Texas to investigate a shooting that left one person dead and two injured at a base convenience store named the “Shopette” in the military base.

The gunman, who authorities said was targeting women, was shot dead by police base.

It’s unclear what may have been the motive for the shooting or even if the man or the victims were in the military or civilians.

MANILA, Philippines -- Filipino champion Manny Pacquiao has released his official theme song as a boxing champ.

Singer Madonna Decena, who is being managed by Pacquiao, said the Filipino champ collaborated with the Filipino-Scottish rock band "Rag Rag" a.k.a. Nugroovz to do his official theme song titled "Fighting Pride." The song was recorded at a Palms Resort studio in Las Vegas last March and launched on the Internet last Tuesday.

"It was released September 14. Kasama namin si Manny na nag-record niyan. Actually dalawang times, isang Las Vegas at isang after fight pa ni Manny (with Joshua Clottey)/
Decena said she is very happy to be part of Pacquiao's newest song.

"Siyempre very proud naman ako na kasama din ako sa projects kasi siyempre maganda yong kanta at official theme song. It's always good to be part of anything with Manny. Maraming pwede pero ako ang napili, very happy," she said.

The song starts with Pacquiao saying: "Deliver me from this fight, to honor You and my country."

Johns Hopkins Hospital Shooting: Gunman Kills Himself

Tragedy struck the world-famous John Hopkins Hospital on Thursday morning, after a gunman shot a doctor, killed his own mother and then killed himself. According to a nurse, the shooting happened after the man got upset with hospital staff over the medical treatment his mom was receiving.


The gunman, 50-year-old Paul Warren Pardus, had been listening to the surgeon around midday when he "became emotionally distraught and reacted ... and was overwhelmed by the news of his mother's condition


I guess he just couldn't bear to see her the way she was," said Pardus' brother, 59-year-old Alvin Gibson of Remington, Va. He said their mother suffered from arthritis and rheumatism and had surgery last week, but it didn't help her.
