NCAE Postponed in Luzon - Typhoon Pedring

NCAE is given to fourth-year and third-year high school students in public and private secondary schools.
According to DepEd Undersecretary for Legal and Legislative Affairs Alberto Muyot, the scheduled NCAE on September 28 has now been moved to September 30. The changed of schedule is due to “operational and administrative limitations,” said Muyot in a statement.The Department of Education (DepEd) announced that the National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE) in Luzon has been postponed due to typhoon “Pedring.”“All other areas shall continue to hold the NCAE on September 28, 2011 as stated in DepEd Memorandum No. 153, s. 2011 and in the enclosure of DepEd Order No. 28, s. 2011.”
NCAE schedule for September 30 are Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), National Capital Region (NCR) and regions 1, 2, 3, 4A, 4B and 5.

Miss Angola Leila Lopes Wins Miss Universe 2011

It's not Shamcey Supsup of the Philippines, as an online poll suggested, who named the winner of the Miss Universe 2011 contest. The crown has been awarded to someone who didn't even appear in the list of top 10 voted contestants - Miss Angola, Leila Lopes.

In a star extravaganza at the Credicard Hall in Brazil's Sao Paolo, 25-year-old Lopes was named the winner of the Miss Universe 2011 contest. Miss Philippines, Shamcey Supsup, who led the online fan voting site of the Telemundo, the second-largest Spanish language television network in the U.S., ended up being the third runner up.

Miss Ukraine, Olesia Stefanko, became the first runner-up, while Miss Brazil, Priscila Machado became the second runner up. Both Stefanko and Machado were not there in the top 10 voted contestants.

Shamcey Supsup Wins 3rd Place in Miss Universe 2011

Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup was named third runner-up at the 2011 Miss Universe pageant at the Credicard Hall in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Miss Angola, 25-year-old Leila Lopes, was crowned Miss Universe 2011.

Miss China Luo Zilin was named fourth runner-up, Miss Brazil Priscila Machado was named second runner-up, while Miss Ukraine Olesya Stefanko was named first runner-up.

Lopes will succeed Miss Universe 2010 Ximena Navarrete of Mexico.

One of the heavy favorites as the pageant progressed, Shamcey impressed fans with her answer during the Q and A portion. Judge Vivica A. Fox asked Miss Philippines if she would change her religion to marry someone she loves. Shamcey answered no.

“I would not change my religion because, first of all, I love my God who created me and if that person truly loves me, he must also love my God,” she said. 

Thoughout the competition, Shamcey was among the top placers in NBC.com's Miss Universe fan voting poll.

Flight 93 - The 40 passengers and crew who fought back against their hijackers aboard Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001, performed one of the most courageous acts in U.S. history, former President George W. Bush said Saturday at a ceremony dedicating the first phase of a memorial at the nation's newest national park.

The hijackers likely intended to crash the plane into the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., where the House and Senate were both in session, said Jon Jarvis, director of the National Park Service. But the plane "never made it because of the determination and valor of the passengers and crew of Flight 93, that plane crashed in this field, less than 20 minutes by air" from the target, Jarvis said.
Bush said the storming of the cockpit "ranks among the most courageous acts in American history."
