Brian Viloria wins against Hernan Marquez via TKO

Brian Viloria wins against Hernan Marquez via TKO

A lot of boxing observers felt that the fight between Brian Viloria (32-3-0, 19 KOs) and Hernan Marquez (34-3-0, 25 KOs) would be a barn-burner. It turned out to be all that and then some.

Viloria floored Marquez with a counter left hook in the tenth round just as Marquez was throwing a barrage of punches. Marquez was able to beat the count but he had wobbly legs when he got back to his feet. Viloria continued to pour in the punches until Robert Garcia waved the towel in surrender.

Viloria dictated the tempo of the fight but the dangerous Marquez was always in the thick of things. Every time Viloria looked like he was about to win the fight, Marquez came back and threw a flurry of his own.

Viloria had an auspicious start in the fight as he knocked down Marquez with a counter right hand. He invested in a lot of body shots that bothered Marquez.

After the fight, Viloria admitted that they worked on targeting the body of Marquez. “The body punches slowed down Marquez, especially in the early rounds,” he said. “I could hear the crunches from my body shots.”

In the fifth round, Marquez tagged Viloria with a big right hand which momentarily staggered the former Olympian. Marquez went for the kill but Viloria calmly weathered the storm by blocking most of the punches with his gloves. After Marquez punched himself out, Viloria went on a counter-attack and floored him again with a one-two.

“I knew it looked bad but I wasn't hurt,” Viloria said. “I knew he was going to get tired.”

Marquez got his second wind in the eighth and ninth rounds. At that point, Marquez knew he needed a knockout to win so he upped his work rate. Marquez attacked carelessly in the tenth thinking that Viloria was in trouble, but he got caught with one of Viloria’s patented counter left hooks which effectively ended the fight.

“I think my left hook was too fast for him,” said Viloria after the fight. That left hook of his has been too fast for his past six opponents. This win was his third successful title defense after winning the WBO flyweight title against Julio Cesar Miranda back in July of 2011. He defended it against Giovani Segura and Omar Nino Romero also via technical knockouts.

With that big win, Viloria is now the unified WBO and WBA flyweight champion, something that has not happened in boxing in almost 50 years.

This was Viloria’s first fight with trainer Marvin Somodio in his corner. Somodio, a local trainer from Baguio’s Shape-Up Boxing Gym, was brought to the United States by Freddie Roach to help the Hall-of-Fame trainer run the Wild Card Gym.

In the undercard, Roman Gonzales (34-0-0, 28 KOs) successfully defended his WBA light flyweight title in an exciting battle against Juan Francisco Estrada (22-2-0, 18 KOs). Gonzales won via unanimous decision with the scores of 118-110 and 116-112 twice but the scores did not reflect how good the fight was.

Channing Tatum People Sexiest Man Alive

Channing Tatum has been named the Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine.

The Magic Mike star has been awarded the annual title by the publication and admits he thought they were "messing" with him when he got the news.

The modest actor, who is married to his 10 Years co-star Jenna Dewan, told the magazine: "My first thought was, 'You are all are messing with me.' I told Jenna after we'd been in the bathtub washing our dogs because they'd gotten skunked. She was like, 'What?' "

Channing, 32, also revealed his wife has started to call him by his new title rather than by his name.

He said: "Yeah, she calls me (the Sexiest Man Alive) now. And who can blame her?"

Although Jenna, 31, is happy to be married to the Sexiest Man Alive she is adamant there is more to her husband than just his handsome looks and toned body.

She said: "People know him to be fun and sexy, but they don't know how emotionally deep and spiritually open he is. He is such an open-hearted person; what you see is what you get."

Channing also revealed he and Jenna, 31, are planning to start a family and he is keen to have lots of kids.

He said: "I'm ready; I think she's ready. The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we'll see where we go after that. It's really easy for us guys to say, 'I want like 15 kids'. Jenna will be like, 'Well you better get another wife!'"

Other famous heartthrobs to make the top ten of People's poll include last year's winner Bradley Cooper, Liam Hemsworth, 'The Wire' star Idris Elba, actor Chris Evans, Jennifer Aniston's fiance Justin Theroux and Ryan Gosling.

People magazine will publish its full list of the 100 Sexiest Men Alive in their next issue which hits stands on Friday (November 16, 2012).

AMALAYER Video - Paula Jamie Salvosa

AMALAYER Video - Paula Jamie Salvosa also known as AMALAYER GIRL

Filipino tweeps again had a field day as a video showing a Light Rail Transit (LRT) passenger seemingly haranguing a security guard made rounds online.

The video was posted on Facebook Tuesday by Gregory Paulo Llamoso, who said he caught the encounter using his camera when he was about to leave the LRT Santolan Station that same day.

"A loud voice caught my attention and all the people present there, ang lakas ng boses niya even she was small (She had loud voice for one so small)," Llamoso said. The video now has over 50,000 shares and over 12,000 "likes" as of this posting.

The video showed the passenger saying: "So now you're making me look like a liar? I'm a liar?"

"Ate, may pinag-aralan akong tao! Ginanon mo ako; I'm just returning the favor (I'm an educated person. You did that to me; I'm just returning the favor)," she added, gesturing that she was pushed.

Hours later, the hashtag #amalayer, which apparently comes from "I'm a liar", became a hit on social networking site Twitter. Paula Jamie Salvosa, which was floated as the passenger's name, also became a trending topic.

The man who caught the video admitted that he did not know the passenger's side of the story, but he added that a bystander told him that the guard scolded the woman for using the wrong entrance.

"Alam mo kung pano mo ako tinanong? Pano mo ako tinanong? 'Ate, anong problema mo?' (Do you know how you asked me? 'What's your problem?')" the passenger complained.

In his post, Llamoso highlighted the fact that the lady guard stayed calm and did not match the passenger's apparent fury.

"Buti nalang the lady guard exhibited the right behavior (The good thing is that the lady guard exhibited the right behavior)," Llamoso said.

"She did not fight back and she just kept cool and said her sorry. She didn’t even utter foul words against the bully passenger," he added.

Llamoso also said he approached the LRT office and asked that they take up the matter privately, even as he remarked that the passenger "degraded" the lady guard.

"[H]er arrogance and misplaced sense is a living proof that being a true woman requires more than just privileged education and breeding..." he added.

And also thats not all.

Los Angeles Lakers Fire Mike Brown

Mike Brown has been fired after a disappointing 1-4 start to the season, the team announced Friday.

Assistant coach Bernie Bickerstaff will take over as interim coach for Friday night’s home game against the Warriors.

“Today we relieved Mike Brown of his head coaching duties with the Los Angeles Lakers. Mike is a good man. Very hard working, maybe one of the hardest-working coaches that I’ve ever been around,” general manager Mitch Kupchak said. “The bottom line is that the team is not winning at the pace that we expected this team to win and we didn’t see improvement. We wish Mike well and we’re sorry it ended this way. So, we’ve decided to move in another direction and make a change.”
A source with knowledge of the Lakers’ thinking said the firing was done “more to stop what was happening than to pursue anybody else.”

Depressed Lawyer Kills Five

A 30-year-old Russian man suffering depression after a breakup went on a shooting spree Wednesday in his Moscow office, killing five and wounding another two after declaring his hatred for mankind, investigators said.
Dmitry Vinogradov, 30, posted an online manifesto in which he proclaimed his “hatred for humankind as a species” hours before the killing spree, prompting comparisons with Norwegian killer Anders Behring Breivik.
“I hate human society and being part of it disgusts me! I hate the meaninglessness of human life!” Vinogradov wrote in a manifesto posted on one of Russia’s top social networks, VKontakte.
“I hate the life itself. I see only one way to justify it: to eliminate as many particles of human compost as possible.”
Vinogradov opened fire at the offices of the pharmacy chain Rigla in northeast Moscow Wednesday morning, killing two women and three men and gravely injuring another woman and man, the Investigative Committee said.
Lifenews.ru website, known for its close ties to law enforcement agencies, cited Vinogradov’s mother Yelena as saying the young man was depressed over a breakup with his girlfriend who worked with him.

“On the morning of November 7, 2012, the suspect came into the office of the pharmaceutical company he works for and fired numerous shots from Saiga and Benelli shotguns that he owns,” the statement said.
“Two men and two young women sitting at their desks died on the spot,” it said, adding Vinogradov killed another man at the stairs leading to the offices.
“One more man and another young woman were seriously wounded, they are receiving medical help,” the Investigative Committee said, adding that the company’s security guards had detained him.
A spokeswoman for the Investigative Committee, told AFP the man had shot from two guns simultaneously. He was placed under arrest and is being questioned by investigators.
Most of his victims are believed to be his colleagues.
The Interfax news agency, citing a representative of the Investigative Committee, said Vinogradov’s former girlfriend was “safe and sound,” adding she would be questioned.
Yelena Vinogradova told lifenews.ru her son had in January broken up with his girlfriend who she called Anya. He worked at the drugs company’s legal department and she in the financial department, his mother said.
“He bought her a trip to Edinburgh, booked everything, paid for everything, and two days before (the trip) he said: ‘I am not going anywhere.’”
“Then he began suffering from an awful depression,” the 56-year-old woman said, adding her son was also taking medication prescribed by a doctor.
Vinogradova said after breaking up with his girlfriend he had bought a rifle and had gone to firing ranges outside Moscow to practice shooting.
The state RIA Novosti news agency, citing a law enforcement source, said earlier in the day the attacker was suffering from unrequited love.
“He told investigators that he had fallen in love with a girl who was a pharmacist, but his feelings were not reciprocated.”
“Because of that he drank for five days and today he came in and opened fire.”
The Investigative Committee spokeswoman declined to comment about possible motives for the killings.
The Interfax news agency said, citing a law enforcement source, said Vinogradov would have to undergo a psychological evaluation,
“He is of course not Breivik but the analogy suggests itself,” the source was quoted as saying.
By 1400 GMT, Vinogradov’s VKontakte page showed more than 1,100 “likes” for his manifesto.
Breivik, a 33-year-old right-wing extremist from Norway, was in August found sane by an Oslo court and sentenced to his country’s maximum sentence of 21 years for July 2011 bombing and shooting frenzy that left 77 people dead.
