Siobhan Magnus who is a native of a small town Marston’s Mills is also the 20 year old contestant of American Idol nowadays and she is all the hype in her home town. There are banners, posters and many other media carriers that show glaring support and encouragement for the young singer.
Despite the criticism of judges that she had to face in the last episode of American Idol Siobhan’s fans have only gone further in enthusiasm and hopes for her and they are expressing it every possible way that they can.
In an episode that was themed to be a tribute to Paul McCartney and John Lennon, Siobhan Magnus chose, steering clear from her kind of songs that litter the discography of the legends, the mellow and almost ethereal “Across the Universe.” Appearing on stage in a shiny, retro tutu and a zipper vest, she looked way different, and the surprises continued in her performance. Simon Cowell thought that she had made a fabulous comeback with the song, and Ellen DeGeneres felt that it was great to see the softer side of the artist. Randy Jackson felt that although her rendition of the song was somewhat sleep inducing, it was good.
However, it was what she said to Simon Cowell’s question was the part that touched the most. Asked why she chose this song, Siobhan Magnus said that it was for the line “Nothing’s Gonna Change My World,” which she said holds true for her sisters, who make up her entire universe. The tears were the added surprises, for Siobhan Magnus is generally known as a restrained personality on stage.
