Indy 500 Qualifying


Indy racing league: The 94th running of the Indy 500 will be on May 30. The pole day show and Indy 500 qualifying this year was very exciting as there are new faces and well there is also one unfortunate accident.
The Indy Racing League placed a new system this year with 24 drivers being qualified but they will still be vulnerable to be bumped. The top nine divers were all involved in a shootout for the pole position. There nine drivers were Hélio Castroneves, Will Power, Dario Franchitti, Ryan Briscoe, Alex Tagliani, Scott Dixon, Graham Rahal, Ed Carpenter, and Hideki Mutoh.The shootout last from 4:30pm to 6:00pm and Hélio Castroneves who won the first session of the Indy 500 qualifying, he also get the 2010 Indianapolis 500 pole position.
During Pole Day 2010 many lead during the early parts of the Indy 500 qualifying including A. J. Foyt IV. March Andretti and Danica Patrick meanwhile struggled. Andretti finishes 16th while Danica Patrick finishes 23rd. Meanwhile another Andretti, John Andretti failed to qualify.
Earlier in the morning, about two hours before the Indy 500 qualifying, Takuma Sato had an accident. He crashed coming out of the second turn on the 2.5-mile oval and slid up the trach. His car hit the outside wall.
Another driver, Tony Kanaan crashed during his qualifying run splitting his engine in two.

6. Scott Dixon – Chip Ganassi Racing – 226.233 mph (364 km/h)
7. Graham Rahal – Rahal Letterman Racing – 225.519 mph (363 km/h)
8. Ed Carpenter – Panther Racing – 224.507 mph (361 km/h)
9. Hideki Mutoh – Newman/Haas Racing – 223.487 mph (360 km/h)
10. Townsend Bell – Sam Schmidt Motorsports – 225.097 mph (362 km/h)
11. Justin Wilson – Dreyer & Reinbold Racing – 225.050 mph (362 km/h)
