Thousands evacuated ahead of Philippine storm | Parma Storm

Thousands evacuated ahead of Philippine storm " Parma " . The first storm less than a week ago killed at least 277 people in and around Manila, but soldiers and civilian emergency teams on the main island of Luzon are on alert again.

Typhoon Parma is already packing winds of 175 kilometres per hour and gathering strength. Forecasters fear the winds could be as high as 200 kilometres per hour by the time it hits land. Parma was forecast to hit the east coast on Saturday, packing sustained winds of up to 120 mph (195 kph) and gusts up to 140 mph (230 kph) — enough destructive power for officials to fear it may develop into a "super-typhoon"
