Mark Zuckerberg Was Hacked On Facebook

Mark Zuckerberg Was Hacked On Facebook -
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s fan page on January 25 was taken down (deleted) after a hacker attack. This only proves that no one is secured online, not even the chief executive officer of the social network of more than 500 million users, the world’s largest.
Technology and social media news provider TechCrunch reported that a strange message appeared on Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s fan page that read as follows:
Let the hacking begin: If facebook needs money, instead of going to the banks, why doesn’t Facebook let its users invest in Facebook in a social way? Why not transform Facebook into a ‘social business’ the way Nobel Price winner Muhammad Yunus described it? http://bit.ly/fs6rT3 What do you think? #hackercup2011
That post “had over 1,800 likes and nearly 500 comments,” TC reported. Zuckerberg’s fan page returns a “The page you requested was not found” notification at this time. But this one is accessible.
The question now: If he can’t protect his own account, can he protect others’?
“Facebook users – famous or not – need to take better care of their social networking security,” said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos, a corporate anti-virus software firm.

Reading Strategies

Bottom Up Strategies/Method
-driven by a process that results in meaning
-when the text is unfamiliar/haven't read before
-decoding, understand simply by trying to make sense on what is written in the text.

Part-to-whole Model

Geonard Bloomfield
-Reading starts with the understand of the code
-analysis of the code helps in getting easily the meaning of the text

Emerald Dechant
-the hierarchical organization of the written text is important in reading
-reading starts with the processing of the smallest linguistic unit and moves gradually to putting together the smaller units - results in recognizing and understanding the higher units.

Charles Fries
-Learning to transfer from auditory signs of language signals to a set of visual signs for the same signal is needed.

Philip B. Gough
-developing a considerable language of habitual responces to a specific set of pattern suggests ability to learn.

T. Mccornick
-Positive recognition of every word through phonemic encoding results from processing letter by letter visual analysis.

Top-Down Model
-inside - out model
-concept driven model
-whole to part model
-it allows reader to decode a text even without understanding the meaning of each word
-it helps recognize unfamiliar words through the use of meaning and grammatical cues
-it emphasizes reading for meaning
-engages readers in meaning activities instead of concentrating on the enhancement of word attack skills.

Meaning is constructed by the selected views of information from various sources:
Graphemic-All of the letters and letter combinations that represent a phoneme
Phonemic - smallest units of meaning
morphemic syntax
semantics

Kenneth Goodman
-reading is understood at once as both a perceptual and cognitive process
-to be able to accomplish the task of reading a skill reader must be able to use sensory, sentactic, semantic and pragmatic information.

Top-higher order mental concept: such knowledge and expectations of the reader and the bottom as their physical text on the page.

Top-down emphasizes readers bringing meaning to text based on their experential background and interpreting text based on their prior knowledge (whole langauge)

interactive - good readers are both good decoders and enterpreters of text, their decodin skills are becoming more automatic.

-uses prints as input and meaning as output

Emerging Reading Model

Rumelhart Model - states the successful reading is both perceptual and a cognitive process

-stresses the influence of various sources: feature extraction, orthographic knowledge, lexical knowledge, syntactic knowledge and semantic knowledge on the text processing and readers intergration.

-incorporates a mechanism labeled as "message centre" which holds information and then redirects them as needed.

Stanovich Model (1980)
-introduced the interactive-compensatory reading model
-believes that neither bottom-up nor top-down addresses all areas of reading comprehension. but the interactive compensatory taps into the strengths of both bottom up and top down.
-incorporates the compensation mode to this model with the interaction between the top down and bottom up processing.

Anderson and Pearson Schematic View(1984)
-focuses on the role of schematic knowledge stored in memory in text comprehension
-believes that comprehension is the interaction between old and new information.
Schema theory – already known general ideas subsume and anchor new information

schemata - knowledge already stored in memory, function in the process of interpreting new information and allowing it to enter and become part of the knowledge store.

schema an abstract knowledge structure; a structure  that represents the relationship among its components.

Pierson and Tierney R/W model
-promotes negotiation of meaning between writer and reader who both create meaning through the text as the medium.
-views readers as composers "the thoughtful reader" is the reader who reads as if she were a writer composing a text, yet for another reader who lives within her"
-considers pragmatic theories of language which state that every speech acts, untterance or attempt at comprehending an utterance is an action.

Thoughtful reader with four interactive roles:
1. Planner - creates goal, use existing knowledge, besides how to align the text.
2. Composer - searches for coherence in gaps with inferences about the relationship within the text
3. Editor - examines his interpretations
4. Monitor - directs the other 3 roles.

How to Hide Info on Facebook

How to Hide Info on Facebook - Facebook, as you're well aware by this point, has a history of privacy scandals. CEO Mark Zuckerberg is constantly trying to push what privacy means in the 21st century — how transparent should we all be on the Internet? — but with each step, a significant number of users push back. Last week, Facebook announced on its Developers blog that it was making it possible for third-party applications to gain access to users' mobile phone numbers and addresses. By early Monday morning the Facebook team had dialed back the change until further notice. Some of the privacy issues have been just too much for users, resulting in cancelled accounts. But more and more organizations are joining the Facebook Connect network and incorporating the site's development tools into their own. It's getting to the point where you're at a disadvantage if you don't have a Facebook account; you can use it to log in with the same username and password on more than two million sites — it's not just for checking in on your cousin's newest baby pictures. So, here's the trick: You can go nearly invisible on Facebook — nobody will be able to view your photographs, see your activity or where you've checked in except for existing friends — but still have an account to use around the web.
If you're ready to move into Facebook stealth mode, follow these simple steps:
• Visit Facebook.com, log in to your profile and click 'Account' in the top-right corner. From there, choose 'Privacy Settings.'
• From the 'Privacy Settings' page, click on 'View Settings' to see who can search for you, send messages to your account, see your education and work settings and more. Change all of these drop-down menus to 'Friends Only.'
• Return to the 'Privacy Settings' page and choose 'Customize Settings' near the bottom of the page. This new page will load a number of different privacy options, but you'll want to click through each one and change the setting to 'Only Me' so that nobody else can see your Facebook activity.
• Stay on the 'Customize Settings' page and scroll down to 'Things Others Share.' Here, you'll want to edit and disable settings so that your friends are unable to write on your wall, comment on posts and check you in to places.
• Return to the 'Privacy Settings' page and, under 'Apps and Websites' in the bottom-left corner, select 'Edit Your Settings.' This page shows all of the third-party websites and applications that you have given access to some of your Facebook information. If you see anything on this list that you want to remove, just click to remove it from the list.
• Stay on the 'Apps and Websites' page, scroll down to 'Instant Personalization' and select 'Edit Settings.' Uncheck the box at the bottom of this page to block other websites from accessing your Facebook interests. Select 'Confirm' when a pop-up asks you if you're sure you want to disable this option.
• Return to the 'Apps and Websites' page, scroll down to 'Public Search' and select 'Edit Settings.' To keep search engines from finding your Facebook profile, uncheck the box on this new screen.

EDSA Bus Explosion - 4 People Dead

Bus Bomb Explosion at EDSA - At least four people were killed and scores were injured when a bomb exploded on a crowded bus in the Philippine capital’s financial district on Tuesday. The attack occurred two months after the United States and several other Western governments warned a terrorist attack in Manila was imminent, and followed a bus hijacking last year that left eight Hong Kong tourists dead.

“The area has been secured and investigators are at the scene. We are being updated should there be any change to these preliminary reports. NCRPO Chief Bartolome confirms two dead and 15 injured at around 2pm today. Casualties have been brought to two nearby hospitals,” Lacierda said.

As of 5pm, the PNP has accounted 4 dead and 14 injured in the EDSA bus explosion.

The driver, who survived the attack unscathed, said at least two men who acted strangely quickly got off the bus just moments before the explosion.

“They were moving from one seat to another although we had no idea there was an explosive aboard,” the driver, Maximo Peligro, told reporters.

Moscow Airport Suicide Bombing - 35 People Killed

Moscow Airport Suicide Bombing - 35 People Killed - MOSCOW (AFP) - – A suicide bomber killed at least 35 people and wounded over 130 in the packed arrivals hall of Moscow's largest airport in an attack slammed by the Kremlin and the world as an act of terror.
There were scenes of carnage at Domodedovo airport in southern Moscow Monday as corpses were stretchered out of the smoke-filled arrivals area after the blast, the latest deadly attack in the capital after the March metro bombings.
Describing the attack as an act of terror, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev chaired an emergency meeting of top officials and ordered a special security regime across the country's main airports and railway stations.
Scene: Carnage returns to Moscow
Global leaders strongly condemned the blast. US President Barack Obama used the word "outrageous," German Chancellor Angela Merkel called it "cowardly" and Spain slammed what it said was a "vile terrorist act".
"We should never allow the terrorists to win," British Prime Minister David Cameron said, while Australia branded the bombing a "terrible atrocity".
"Today at 4:32 pm (1332 GMT) an explosion went off in the international arrivals hall of Domodedovo airport," the Russian investigative committee said in a statement.
Airport spokeswoman Elena Galanova said that the bombing took place in a freely accessible public area of the airport where passengers meet relatives after passing through customs.
At least 35 people were killed, she said, a figure confirmed by the investigative committee. At least 130 were wounded, the health ministry said in a statement. It said that of the wounded, 20 were in a serious condition.

Steve Harvey Ex Wife - Rants On Youtube

Steve Harvey Ex Wife - Rants On Youtbue : Steve Harvey’s ex-wife, Mary Harvey, posted three videos this weekend in which she went on the attack, calling her former spouse a habitual cheater, who took their son Wynton and left her with nothing.

In one of the videos (posted below), Mary Harvey claims, “He took my Wynton from me; he turned my son against me; had me evicted; thrown out.”

The former Mrs. Harvey says the comedian, who’s written books on relationships, including “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man,” was a serial cheater who had an affair with Marjorie Bridges while they were still married.

Steve and Mary Harvey divorced in 2005, and then two years later the “Family Feud” host wed Bridges.

Harvey’s attorney, Bobbie Edmonds, calls Mary’s allegations, “False, misleading, derogatory, disparaging, malicious, explicit and slanderous,” and notes that there are court orders prohibiting both parties from “discussing and releasing information [about their divorce] on the Internet and to the media. We are taking the necessary legal steps to rectify this matter to the full extent of the law.”

Mary Harvey says she’s only speaking now because her ex-husband recently sued her, alleging she was “responsible when Oprah did not give him a TV show.”

She also claims she’s being vocal because her name keeps popping up in stories about her famous ex. “To keep seeing my name referenced when talking about his life – that part of it, I don’t understand,” she says.

50 Cent updated his Twitter account with the following tweet, “I don’t know why people underestimate me. I just shut down WORLDSTAR for future advertising contact thisis50.com suckers lol.”
After he sent out the message on Twitter, 50 Cent called into a radio station and tried to explain why he had issues with the site, and why he had been the reason for it getting shut down. He then changed his tune by saying, “I didn’t shut them down. If I rob a bank I wouldn’t tell you I did… [but] maybe I did. It’s up to the public to decide.”
So…which is it? Did 50 Cent shut down Worldstarhiphop? And if he didn’t, then what happened to Worldstarhiphop?

Watch Evander Holyfield vs Sherman Williams Online - Watch Evander Holyfield vs Sherman Williams Live Stream Online for Free on Saturday, 22 January 2011 at 09:00 pm EST for the WBF title. Four-time heavyweight champion Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield, who turned 48 years old in October, weighed in at 224 pounds on Friday for Saturday's bout opposite 38-year-old Sherman "Tank" Williams that will take place at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs West Virginia.
Sherman Williams has been on a hot streak at this late point in his career, winning 9 of his last 10 fights. Unfortunately, the one fight he lost is his most recent one, which came as an October 2009 decision loss to Manuel Charr. Although he has not taken on any fighters near the caliber of the fighters Holyfield has seen, Williams still looks to be a modestly tough opponent for Evander at this stage in his career.

Deepest Diving Sea Turtle

Deepest Diving Sea Turtle - February 2, 2009, at 4 am, turtles are known as Tika off the coast of Gabon, West Africa. She spent almost six months sailing across the Atlantic, 5000 miles (8.000 km) journey to the shores of South America. At the moment it is probably somewhere in Brazil, there are jellyfish and building himself up. Around March next year, it will begin its journey back to Africa, and if all goes well, it will then build a nest and lay her eggs in the sand Mayumba national park in Gabon. And this is just one of many trips around 10000 miles it is doing in its 50-year life.
Scientists know all this because for the first time, they traced the journeys taken by the leatherback turtles as they cross the Atlantic ocean, with teak travel far from the 25 women who followed in the studies lasted more than five years. She, along with another woman called Regab, appeared in the waters of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. Others stayed closer to Africa, but still continued their journey for several months, and they sailed thousands of miles. One of them, named Carolina researchers, swam in the middle of the Atlantic more than a year and a half to disperse more than 7000 miles before returning to breed.

Intercultural Communication

Two types of communication:
Verbal - refers to use of language
Non-verbal - refer to the use of gestures, facial expressions and other body movements.

Language - is an abstract system of word meaning and symbols of culture. It includes speech, written characters, numerals, symbols and gestures and expressions of non verbal communication.

Paralanguage - is the language of gestures, expressions and postures.

Communication - is far more than speech and writing.

For effective communication to take place, 6 components must be present ; a communication source or sender, a mesage, a channel, a receive, feedback and the environment

A man's language is a reflection of the kind of person he is,  the level of education he has attained, and an index to the behavior that may be expected from him.

Language is the key factor in the success of the human race in creating and preserving culture, for without language the ability to convey ideas and traditions is impossible.

Phonology refers to a system of sounds.
semantics is a study of word meanings and word combinations.
grammar refers to the structure of langauge through its morphology and syntax.
pragmatics is concerned rules for the use of appropriate language particular contexts.

If culture can affect the structure and content of its language, then it follow that linguistic diversity derives in part from cultural diversity.

Edward Sapir - a linguist, acknowledged the close relationship between language and culture, maintaining that they were inextricably related so that you could not understand or appreciate the one without a knowledge of the other.

The linguistic relativity hyphothesis asserts that language determines thought and therefore culture. in reality language and culture influence each other. -edward

every society has a culture, no matter how simple the culture may be and every human being is cultured in the sense of participating in some culture or other.

culture refers to the attitudes, values, customs, and behavior patterns that characterize a social groups.

culture is:
  • learned
  • shared by a group of people- shared by some population
  • cumulative-knowledge is stored and pass on generation
  • dynamic-cumulative quality
  • ideational-ideal pattern of behavior
  • diverse-sum total of human culture consists of a great many separate cultures each of them different.
culture
  • changes- all cultural knowledge does not perpetually accumulate
  • gives us a range of permissible behavior patterns-allows a range of ways in which men can be men and women can be women.
cognitive components
ideas - are mental representations used to organize stimulus they are the basic units out of which knowledge is constructed and a world emerges.
Values - standards of desirability, goodness and beauty which serves as broad guidelines for social living.
Accounts - ow people use that common language to explain, justify, rationalize, excuse or legitimize our behavior to themselves and others.

behavioral component
norms-are rules and expectations by which a society guides the behavior of its members
types of norms:
mores- customary behavior patterns of folkways which have taken on a moralistic value.
laws- constitute the most formal and important norms, formalized norms
folkways - these are behavior patterns of society which are organized and repetitive,
rituals-highly scripted ceremonies or strips of interaction that follow a specific sequence of actions.

Rituals are highly scripted ceremonies or strips of interaction that follow a specific sequence of actions.
material compoents of culture refer to physical objects of culture such as machines, equipment, tools, books, clothing, etc.

How is culture transmitted:
Enculturation - the proccess of learning culture of one's own group.
Acculturation - learning some new traits from another culture
Assimilation - process in which an individual entirely loses any awareness of his or her previous group identity an dtakes on the culture and attitudes of another group.

Here is an illustration of cultural relativism:
practices considered immoral or taboo to a certain group of people but are accepted by other groups with a different cultural orientation.

The Four Pillars of Education

  • Leaning to know, that is acquiring the instruments of understanding;
  • Learning to do, so as to be able to act creatively in one's environment;
  • Learning to live together, so as to participate in and cooperate with other people in all human activities; and
  • Learning to be, so as to better develop one's personality and to act with ever greater autonomy, judgment and personal responsibility.
Learning to know implies learning how to learn by developing one's concentration, memory skills, and ability to think. From infancy, young people must learn how to concentrate - on objects and on other people. This time of learning is concerned less with the acquisition of structured knowledge but more with the mastery of learning tools.

If, as a teacher you have been helping students to develop their skills that would make them independent learners, you are doing well on the first pillar of education because you have prepared them for life in the knowledge society in which we all now live.

A truly educated person nowadays needs a broad general education and the opportunity to study a small number of subjects in depth.

Learn-to-learn skills:
  • learning to read with comprehension
  • listening
  • observing
  • asking questions
  • data gathering
  • note taking
  • accessing, processing and selecting information.
The role of teacher then is a facilitator(to support everyone to their best teaching and practice), catalyst(change), monitor(synchronize) and evaluator( examine and judge carefully) of learning because the process of learning to think is a life long one and can be enhanced by every kind of human experience. In this respect, as people's work becomes less routine, they will find that their thinking skills are increasingly being challenged at their place of work.

Instruments of Learning
concentration - focus on one thing at a time
memory skills - skill needs practice
ability to think
logic - science of correct thinking

It is clear that technical and vocational education and training need to encompass all four pillars of learning in order to prepare the individual with the knowledge, skills, qualities, values, attitudes and abilities to communicate effectively and work together productively with others.

Faure - foresaw the need to adapt education and training.

Education must contribute to the all round development of each individual mind and body, intelligence, sesitibity aesthetic sense, personal responsibility and spiritual values - Delors Report

Education means reaching out to embrace the whole of society and the entire lifespan of the individual. -edgar faure.

Learning throughout life is the key to the 21 century essential for adapting to the evolving requirements of the labor market, and for better mastery of the changing time frame and rhythms of individual existence. delors commission.

Learning to do represents the skilful, creative and discerning application of knowledge. One must learn how to think creatively. critically and holistically and how to deeply understand the information that is presented.

Learning to live together is the one most vital to building a genuine and lasting culture of peace in both the Asia-pacific region and throughout the world. one of the major issues in education today, since the contemporary world is too often a world of violence.

Peace must begin with each one of us. Through quiet and serious reflection on its meaning, new and creative ways can be found to foster undestanding, friendship and cooperation among all people. Javier Perez de cuellar UN secretary General.

Learning to be refers to the role of education in develiing al the dimensions of the complete person: the physical, intellectual, emotional and ethical integration of the individual into a complete man. -hollistic integrated approach to educating the human person as an individual and as a member of society

APNIEVE's definition of learning to be is founded on a humanistic philosophy of education which aims at the overall development of the human person as an individual and as a member of society.

Conscientization - is the process of becoming aware of the contradictions existing within oneself and in society and of gradually being able to bring about persnal and social transformation.

Universal Aims of education
towards a scientific humanism - based on scientific and technological training.
creativity - preserving each individuals originality and creative ingenuity, along with realism; transmitting culture without stifling the individual; encouraging the use of one;s gifts, aptitudes and personal forms of expression without cultivating egoism, and paying attention to the individual's specifi traits without overlooking collective activity and welfare.
Towards social commitment - preparing the individual for life in society, moving him/her into a coherent moral, intellectual and affective universe composed of sets of values, interpretations of the past and conceptions of the future; a fundamental store of ideas and information, a common inheritance.
Towards the complete man - respects the many sidedness of personality as essential in education if the individual is to develop for himself as well as for others.

The four pillars of education stresed in the report of the international commission on education for the 21st century are: they emphasize the value of education as a manifestation of the spirit of unity. this stems from the will to live together as active members of global village and contribute to attainment of a culture of peace.
