Sinkholes in the Philippines

The sinkhole in Guatemala   was a very hot topic over the internet this past few days. The big hole in the picture above shows the actual huge hole of the sink hole in Guatamela City where it is said that the reason why it happened was still a mystery, but some of the geologist have said it must be because the underground land in the area were made of limestones that dissolves during rainy seasons and it slowly reduces or melted the limestone underneath the land floor until it was no longer strong to hold the area so the sinkhole happened. Just recently local news in the Philippines have also published similar sinkholes found in the Philippines, it maybe small but they were many. Some of these sinkholes in the Philippines are located in Baguio City, Surigao, Cagayan and Bohol. Even in the chocolate hills of Bohol have sinkholes but its not as big as the sinkhole in Guatamala somehow it is also reported that theres also a possibilty that the small sinkholes can turn into big ones.

  1. This post seems very popular I think because I also read this information from Lliama's Jounal.

But anyway, I hope this will not happen in the Philippines.
