Maasin City Pawnshop Burglarized

Maasin City Pawnshop Burglarized :

" MAASIN CITY, Philippines—Burglars bored a hole through a pawnshop and walked away with an undetermined amount in cash and jewelry between late Tuesday night and early Wednesday, police said.
The police said the robbers entered the H Lhuillier Pawnshop through the drainage system and a hole bored through the floor of the one-story building on R. Kangleon street in the city proper.
Superintendent Hector Enage, Maasin City police chief, said the Acetylene Gang could be the perpetrator of the robbery based on the equipment used in robbing the pawnshop.
The police recovered from the crime scene a small tank of LPG, a hydraulic jack, an acetylene torch, a saw, a screwdriver and gloves.
Enage added that the police already had suspects whose base of operations was in nearby Hilongos, Leyte.
“These suspects may have come from different places because they spoke in Filipino, Waray and Cebuano. They may be staying with a cohort who is from the town (of Hilongos),” he said.
Enage said there were traces showing that the burglars tried to open the pawnshop's vault using the acetylene torch.
However, the police crime scene investigators found the pawnshop's vault closed when they arrived at the pawnshop, he said.
“But we will investigate further as soon as representative of the owner arrives. We will try to check again if the vault was really opened,” Enage said.
The HL Pawnshop employees told investigators that when they opened the pawnshop at around 8 a.m. Wednesday, they were surprised to find a hole on the floor.
An employee of the shop told the police that the company policy required all employees to enter the pawnshop at the same time."
