A Facebook page “Dora the Explorer is soo an Illegal Immigrant,” which features a picture of Dora vaulting over the fence on the U.S.-Mexico border, has more than 410,000 members. The mock mug shot of Dora (shown above) has been circulating around the internet on pro- and anti-immigration sites. Dora’s crimes? Illegal border crossing and resisting arrest.
Dora The Explorer shows a great parody about immigration. Her character travels from place to place without the need to show an ID or even to go the long process of immigration. It was as if Dora is suggesting how immigration should be.
The “Dora The Explorer Illegal Immigrant Mugshot” picture for some may bee to rude and bad taste for some and yet for others it may seem funny and harmless, but more than that it shows an issue that should be resolved.
Experts says that pictures like this just show American’s attitudes towards issues about race and immigrants. They say that these reveals some of the insights where some of immigration reform debate may be headed.
The toughest immigration law yet in the United States was signed into law Friday, by Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona. Its aim is to identify, prosecute and deport illegal immigrants.
Those opposing the law and Dora The Explorer found an unlikely ally in the personality of President Barack Obama. “This law threatened to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and our communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe,” says Obama at a naturalization ceremony for 24 active-duty service members in the Rose Garden.
