Coral Gables Senior High School in Coral Gables, Florida was the scene of a murder of a grade 10 student today. Juan Carlos Rivera was stabbed to death at an outside courtyard after a fight erupted in the school between classes. The victim was stabbed in the chest with a switchblade. A security lockdown occurred at the school after the incident occurred. Two boys from Coral Gables High School had a fight on Tuesday, Sep 15. One boy in Coral Gables, Juan Carlos Rivera, 17, died from stab wounds while the other boy has been detained in police custody.
Coral Gables High School went into lockdown after staff and authorities responded to the fatal stabbing.
Juan Carlos Rivera and another boy were apparently fighting over a girl. The stabbing was witnessed by at least one student at Coral Gables, who told her parent the boys fought over a girl.
Parents of students of Coral Gables rushes towards the school after hearing the news to immediately pick up their children. Parents, who are in shock and can't really imagine that the incident really happened inside the school, stood outside the school waiting to find out if their child was okay.
Coral Gables High School immediately applied a 3 hour lock down after the incident.
