Macomb Farm King Shooting

Macomb Farm King Shooting. At least 20 rounds were allegedly been fired in the direction of the police when a gunman entered a Farm King store in Macomb, Illinois. He not only fired several rounds in the air but did not even spare police officials when they arrived on the scene. Thanks to the alertness of the Farm King store staff most of the people were able to make their way to the safety.

Police say when they arrived at the scene, the gunman fired at them with a semi-automatic weapon, then retreated into the store. The shooter has not been seen since. Alex Degman reports that all employees have made their way to nearby HyVee with the exception of a manager that remains unaccounted for.


According to the Associated Press, five hostages were released. Hostages included two men, two women and a boy who appeared to be about seven or eight years old.

Nearby Western Illinois University has released a statement that reads

The WIU-Macomb campus remains open. Western students, faculty and staff are asked to avoid East Jackson Street. Police continue to remain on the scene and the area has been closed to traffic. Western’s Emergency Alert System (WEAS) has been activated so individuals are aware of the situation. Information about injuries was not immediately available.
